BLACK LIGHT NETWORKS

Nadie, Nunca, Nada, No | Madrid | Nov. | 2017

Black Light Network, UV markers on Canvas misuring 20 x 2,1 m, view of the installation at Nadie, Nada, Nunca, No.

Black Light Networks was realised by superimposing several drawings based on visual materials taken from the Internet. The accumulation of these simplified images aims to synthetically reproduce our everyday contemporary visual experience based on overabundance, randomness and speediness of stimuli. Drawings have been made on canvas using some special pigments that react to UV lights by becoming fluorescent. This technique allows the works to be experienced as if they are floating: the support disappears enhancing the drawings’ luminosity and absence of materiality. The ubiquity and instability of this series of works refers to our ordinary, overwhelming and compulsive consumption of images through screens.
